Achievements of DREA, at a Glance
❖
Established in the year 2002, it was run as a society with about 25 members. Revival took place in the year 2010. Membership drive triggered the strength to rise steeply to 145 within four years.
❖
In the year 2014, a colorful DREA Directory of members was published.
❖
DREA was recognized by the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW), under Wed based 'Pensioner's Portal', a mission mode project under the National e-Governance Plan during the year 2014.
❖
As per the directive of the DoPPW, DREA was organizing 'Swachch Bharat' program in our office permises and in leading schools in the district.
❖
An office infrastructure was established in a central location in Nagercoil Town in the year 2014. Services of a part-time Data Entry Operator were availed for an hour, three days in a week.
❖
Organized short tours for DREA family members within Tamilnadu.
❖
Organized special invited lectures on general topics of interest to senior citizens of DOS/ISRO.
❖
A desktop Personal Computer with accessories worth Rs.1 Lakh was supplied free of cost to the Association by the pension department.
❖
Two court cases were filled and pursued in the Madras CAT Bench; one for the additional benefits related to the two increments eligible for Engr. SD-SG and the other for the revival of departmental action to consider Engr. G for the two increments as incentive.
❖
Data Bank developed for Government office orders pertaining to pensioners, Dearness Allowance/Relief with respect to period since 2000.
❖
Developed an Excel program to compute pension and arrears etc..
❖
Organized Interaction Meetings with IPRC. DREA office bearers met the Directors of IPRC from time to time and discussed on pensioners' issues.
❖
As a result of the follow up by DREA, Seniors Day Function was organized by IPRC in their campus.
❖
A representative from DREA was invited as a member for the Pension Adalat-2019 held at IPRC. Long pending issues of a few members could be resolved in the meeting. The upgradation of grade pay for Senior Technician 'A' (16 retirees) was raised in the meeting and settled.
❖
Information pertaining to two increment case and definition of family with respect to dependent disabled children etc. have been collected from various government departments by invoking the RTI act.
❖
Help was extended to four of our members to take up their cases with the PDBs to release their pension. EC members accompanied them to convince senior bank officials in person.
❖
LTA and other arrears for seven family pensioners were got from their respective banks.
❖
Prepared the pension revision tables for about 76 retirees due to the implementation of the 7th CPC recommendations and given to the individuals for necessary follow up with the department.
❖
DREA provided Work-out sheets on Pension Revision to engineers eligible for the incentive of two additional increments and requested them to follow up with IPRC. Due to this effort, IPRC was the only centre to settle this issue for all the retirees in the grade of SD to SG.
❖
Sorted out the issues related to opening of family pension account for five of our members by writing to Pension Accounting Officer (PAO), Centralized Pension Processing Centre (CPPC), Pension Disbursing Bank (PDB) and Regional Managers.
❖
As a result of constant follow up with the department, IPRC released the following office orders during the CORONA pandemic season well ahead of many other ISRO Centers. (i) Identification of laboratories for testing and hospitals for the treatment of COVID-19 cases (ii) CHSS claim bills for chronic diseases without the counter signature of the AMOs on the Form-7A.

DREA has helped many membersto get long pending CHSS arrears due to inpatient treatment under CHSS.
❖
DREA was extending support for the establishment of CHSS hubs for the benefit of DOS/ISRO pensioners at Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy regions.
❖
Organized General Body Meetings twice every year. Participating Septuagenarians and Octogenarians were honored in the GBs.
❖
Organized Annual Family Get Together for DREA members and their families.
❖
From the year 2017, printed and distributed Annual Information Builetin cum Diary containing useful information.
❖
Bereaved Family Benevolent Fund (BFBF) was instituted and consolation fund was given to the spouse in the unfortunate event of the death of the BFBF member.
❖
DREA WhatsApp group has been formed for maintaing camaraderie among members and for sharing of information.
